Each year on the evening of October 3, the Franciscan family throughout the world pauses to celebrate the solemnity of St. Francis of Assisi’s death which is called the Transitus. (From Latin meaning passage or crossing.) In his famous Canticle of the Creatures, the saint wrote “Praised be You, my Lord, through our Sister Bodily Death, from whom no one living can escape.” On Friday, October 3, the Conventual Franciscan Friars and Secular Franciscans from our parish, along with other members of the Franciscan family, will be celebrating the Transitus at 7 PM at St. Ita church (5500 N. Broadway). All are welcome to attend this beautiful and solemn Liturgy of the Word. Comments are closed.
