Mary, Mother of God Parishioner, Melissa Primavera, is singing in partnership with The Lahr von Leïtis Academy & Archive in a program titled Healing a Fractured World: A portrait of exiled composer Egon Lustgarten. Egon Lustgarten (1887-1961), an Austrian composer of Jewish descent, was forced to emigrate to the United States after Hitler’s annexation of Austria. Healing a Fractured World chronicles Lustgarten’s journey of resolve to continue creating his music in the face of impossibly difficult circumstances. This unique experience brings the composer’s story to life through a brief lecture, performance of his rarely heard musical works, narrated personal correspondence and images. The Chicago premiere takes place on October 9, 2024 at 7 PM at PianoForte studios. Admission is free but reservations are required as seating is limited. Comments are closed.
