On Sunday, September 29 the Nigerian community of Mary, Mother of God Parish invited us all to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th anniversary of independence. They sponsored the 10:30 AM Mass at Saint Ita church and hosted a party afterwards for everyone in Jubilee Hall. There was plentiful Nigerian food, and no one was left hungry! Thank you to the Nigerian community for organizing this annual celebration for the parish, and thank you to honored guests Fr. Stan Chu Ilo and Fr. Simon Njoroge OFM, Conv. for celebrating the Mass. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Nigeria, pray for the well-being of our sisters and brothers both in Nigerian and of Nigerian descent. Amen! *Photos courtesy of parish volunteer Wes Kinard and parishioner Dumas Guzman.
Last Saturday, our parish held its annual celebration for the Feast of San Lorenzo Ruiz and appreciation Mass for our altar servers. We gathered for Mass at 4:30 PM at St. Gregory the Great church which featured music from the Gitong Tinig Filipino Choir. Fr. Thomas’ homily honored San Lorenzo, the first canonized Filipino martyr, and specifically thanked the altar servers for their dedication to the parish. Afterwards, there was a party in the school cafeteria with plenty of food and fun. Thank you to the Filipino community for organizing this wonderful celebration! *Photos courtesy of parishioner Mark Franzen.

The materials were given to families who visit the parish food pantry located at St. Thomas of Canterbury church (4827 N. Kenmore). Thank you to everyone who donated!
