Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped make our parish Thanksgiving celebrations possible! Morning Mass was well attended as was the potluck luncheon afterwards. We are grateful for the time and talents of the Franciscan Friars, Secular Franciscans, and parishioners who helped set up, cook, and clean up the potluck luncheon. We are also grateful to St. Mary of the Woods Parish for generously donated hundreds of pies for the occasion! Morning Mass*Photos courtesy of parish volunteer Luana Lienhart, OFS. St. Mary of the Woods ParishThe students in our Religious Education Program have organized a Wishlist Drive for the parish Food Pantry. Help our neighbors in need this weekend (November 22 and 23) by donating to the drive. Please bring items to Mass at St. Ita and drop them off with the students.
The 8th grade class at Saints Joseph and Francis Xavier School in Wilmette, IL held a drive to collect personal hygiene items support of our parish Food Pantry. This is the class that volunteers every Monday at the Food Pantry help patrons shop and stocking shelves. We are so proud of these young people and their continued dedication to service!
"A big thank you to all our volunteers and benefactors who make sure our shelves are well stocked for our guests all the time!" - Friar Ayub Mwenda OFM, Conv., Food Pantry Manager Last fiscal year, the Food Pantry provided groceries and staples to 12,794 clients! This important work would not be possible without the support of our donors, volunteers, and other benefactors. Thank you to everyone who continues to support this ministry! Guinness Award: "It was an amazing month in the beautiful city of Chicago, but the most lasting memories, by far, have been all the wonderful people I met along the way. Big thanks to [the parish[ for their hospitality, the amazing tour [of St. Ita's church], and some much-needed encouragement!"
