May is the month of Mary! Throughout the month, we hosted different celebrations in honor of the Virgin Mary and for Mother's Day. The Vietnamese and Laotian communities crown the statue of Our Lady of Fatima at St. Thomas of Canterbury every Sunday for the entire month. Parishioners lead a procession to lay roses at Our Lady's feet. *Photos courtesy of parishioner Francis Khook Mothers, godmothers, and spiritual mothers honored with roses and a blessing at all Masses on Mother's Day Sunday. May Crownings are a long-held tradition at our parish. Traditionally, children who have just made their First Communion have the honor of crowning the statue of our Blessed Mother. After Mass, parishioners gathered on the front lawn to crown the statue of Mary and to place roses at her feet. Afterwards, there was a parish picnic.
