When: November 10
Where: Rectory (next to St. Thomas of Canterbury)
4827 N. Kenmore Ave, Chicago 60640
Potluck Community Meal: 6:00 PM
Discussion: 7:00 PM
Topic: New Uptown Food Market Cooperative
Please join us for a community meal and discussion featuring the leaders of the Chicago Market Cooperative. Having recently secured $5 million in funding from the City of Chicago, things are moving forward for a possible 2023 grand opening in the former “L” station at Wilson & Broadway CTA station.
Dan Arnett, general manager of the planned market, will give the latest updates on the food market’s progress. Other leaders from the Chicago Market Cooperative will also be on hand to answer questions.
This is a good opportunity to learn more about cooperatives and how our community can support a new community-owned food market in the Uptown neighborhood. All are welcome, and if you can bring some food to share, please do. If you can't, no worries!
Chicago Market will provide farm-to-table transparency about food, its origins and its processes. It will educate its community about nutrition, ingredient sourcing and methods of food production. The Market will support sustainability and integrity in all areas, including environmental stewardship, fair labor practices and cooperative principles. It will be devoted to the triple bottom line: People, Planet and Prosperity.
