---------
Antonia (Toñita) Rubio was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many at Mary, Mother of God Parish. She was known for her ushering at the 12:30pm Mass and being a pillar of the Cuban community. Toñita was always ready to serve God and offered a warm smile to anyone she encountered. We ask prayers for Toñita, her husband, children, and family as they face her loss. Yet we trust that God's mercy has already delivered her home.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Jeanette Lynne Reid
Jeanette Lynne Reid (1942-2024) returned to the loving arms of her creator on August 8.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Jeanette moved to Illinois where she earned a master's degree in education, teaching in Chicago public schools until retirement.  She loved her students and was a caring figure in many young lives.  Jeanette’s life was her Catholic faith.  She loved to sing, and her beautiful voice could often be heard in the choir during Mass. She cherished her years at St. Ignatius Parish where she was a beloved sacristan prior to its closing in 2022.

Jeanette loved and was loved by her friends. She enjoyed a special breakfast club with a close-knit group of women.  An avid reader, Jeanette cheered for the Cubs, and enjoyed music and museums.  Her beloved cat Gertrude enjoyed 19 comfortable years in Jeanette’s loving care.

Jeanette leaves her sister, Lee Reid, with her husband Steve Knox, and two nieces, Jessica Linsey and Carrie Reid-Knox, with their families in Massachusetts.

A Funeral Mass is Thursday, August 29 at 11am at Saint Ita church (1220 W. Catalpa Avenue).  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings in her memory may be made to Mary, Mother of God Parish.

Manuel "Manolo" Gonzalez
