There is a long tradition at St. Thomas of Canterbury church (4827 N. Kenmore) of a Rosary Walk around the four corners of the block and a final decade on the church steps. A decade is said in each of the main languages of our parish: Spanish, Tigrinya, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and English. Join us on Sunday, October 29 for the Rosary starting at 10:30 AM which will be followed by a Benediction inside and the 11:30 AM Mass. The reception after Mass is open to everyone! English | Español | Tiếng Việt | Tigrinya | Tagalog English | Español | Tiếng Việt Pope Francis has called the global Church to a day of fasting, penance, and prayer on Friday, October 27 for peace in the Middle East and Ukraine. The Holy Father announced that special prayers for peace will take place in St. Peter's Basilica (at 6 PM Central Time) and has invited all to join. “War does not solve any problems, it only sows death and destruction. It increases hatred, multiplies revenge. War erases the future, it erases the future,” Francis said at the end of his general audience talk in St. Peter’s Square Oct. 18. The Archdiocese of Chicago calls for Catholics and all people of good will to answer Pope Francis’ plea to unite this Friday. “We mourn the presence of war and pray for the light of peace on this broken world and for mercy and reconciliation among nations,” said Cardinal Cupich. “As we pray for peace in the Middle East and Ukraine, we grieve for the suffering and deaths of our brothers and sisters, and pray for comfort of those with immense grief and fear for their safety.” If you want to know more about the St. Rita Domestic Violence Awareness Minsistry click the button below!
