This Filipino celebration honors the Blessed Virgin Mary and commemorates the finding of the true Cross by St. Helena. The parish's first Santacruzan was hosted by the Filipinos of St. Gregory in 1988! Come join us for the 37th year of this tradition which includes Mass with a procession and a wonderful reception afterwards.  May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ritual held during the month of May. It is a solemn procession ending with the crowning of a statue of the Blessed Virgin with a garland or crown of flowers. Marian Dearit is venerated by Catholics in Eritrea, with a major festival in her honor at the end of the month of May. The members of the Holy Family Eritrean Community at Mary, Mother of God Parish will be celebrating in her honor on May 11, with Mass in the Ge'ez Rite, a procession, and reception. At Mary, Mother of God Parish we remember these special persons with the gift of prayer through our Mother’s Day Novena. Those enrolled in the Novena will be remembered at every Mass throughout our parish and in the friars’ daily prayers for the nine days leading up to Mother’s Day, from May 4th through May 12th. Enroll your loved ones (whether living or deceased) in the Novena by filling out the envelops in the back of our three churches. No donation is necessary. Simply fill in their names and return the envelope back to us. You can either mail back the envelope, drop it off at the parish office, or put it in the regular collection basket at Mass. "Queridísimas madres, gracias, gracias por lo que son en su familia y por lo que dan a la Iglesia y al mundo". – Papa Francisco Es importante apreciar a nuestras madres o a cualquiera que haya sido como una madre para nosotros. Como Católicos de la Parroquia María, Madre de Dios, recordamos a estas personas especiales con el don de la oración a través de nuestra Novena del Día de la Madres. Las personas inscritas en la Novena serán recordadas en todas las Misas de nuestra parroquia y en las oraciones diarias de los frailes durante los nueve días previos al Día de la Madres, del 4 al 12 de mayo. Inscriba a sus seres queridos (vivos o fallecidos) en la Novena llenando los sobres en la parte posterior de nuestras tres iglesias. No es necesaria ninguna donación para inscribir nombres en la Novena. Simplemente rellene sus nombres y devuélvanos el sobre. Những người đã ghi danh vào Tuần Cửu Nhật sẽ được nhớ đến trong mỗi Thánh lễ khắp giáo xứ chúng ta và trong lời cầu nguyện hàng ngày của các tu sĩ trong chín ngày trước Ngày của Mẹ, từ ngày 4 tháng Năm đến ngày 12 tháng Năm. Xin Qúy vị nhớ là không cần đóng góp gì để được ghi danh vào Tuần Cưủ Nhật mà đơn giản chỉ cần điền tên của những người chúng ta xin cầu nguyện rồi gửi lại phong bì cho chúng tôi. Qúy vị có thể gửi lại phong bì qua bưu điện, mang đến văn phòng giáo xứ hoặc bỏ vào giỏ quyên góp thường lệ trong Thánh lễ. |
