May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ritual held during the month of May. It is a solemn procession ending with the crowning of a statue of the Blessed Virgin with a garland or crown of flowers. This honors Mary as “the Queen of May.” Mariam Dearit
Marian Dearit is venerated by Catholics in Eritrea, with a major festival in her honor at the end of the month of May. The members of the Holy Family Eritrean Community at Mary, Mother of God Parish will be celebrating in her honor on May 11, with Mass in the Ge'ez Rite, a procession, and reception.
