Financial Report
Stewardship Report The 2023 Annual Catholic Appeal has almost tripled our goal for $56,000 with $152,708 pledged and $127,527 paid against those pledges. Outreach in May $9,019, June $9,364, and July $1,868. The Give Central contribution in June was $19,052 and in July to date $19,659. Give Central will now be moving to one account Mary, Mother of God. Tastes of Summer thus far has a total income of $18,000 but there are still expenses outstanding. Regardless, the event is projected to bring in $22,000. The fundraising committee has set a list of priorities:
Buildings and Grounds Report The capital projects projected total cost went from $148,000 to $200,000. Fewer projects under $10,000 which are not considered capital. Going forward in either January or February the B&G committee will meet to discuss what projects need to get done for the next fiscal year, so we have a sense of the carryover projects along with the new ones. Cultural Center Update Sarah Crow will be doing a church tour of St. Ita. In the Fall there will be a poetry session with Peter O’Leary. Also, Fr. Bob Sprott will have a session on the major works of Teresa of Avila. Scott Moringiello will also be teaching a course on the 20th century Catholic workers. School Update None Old Business None New Business The March 28 meeting will have to be moved since it falls on Holy Thursday. The Finance Council Committee has decided to implement a Food Pantry Task Force to handle the transition of Catholic Charities vacating St. Thomas. The meeting ended at 7:53pm with Father Alejandro leading the council in prayer. Mary, Mother of God Parish Finance Council Meeting Minutes for 6/22/23 St. Ita Jubilee Hall – 7pm Attendance

Meeting Minutes Jim Muss made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Magali Duvivier. The minutes were unanimously approved. Updates from Father Alejandro Father Alejandro is slowly making his way to all the churches and Masses. As well as starting to get familiar with parishioners. He understands that he does not need to be everywhere and does not need to do everything. Willing to take upon the guidance of all the committees. He is also preparing for Tastes of Summer. Additionally, Fr. Alejandro is looking for a replacement for Maggie, as she will be leaving in September to join the Franciscans of the Eucharist. There will be a reception for her at the end of the summer. Stephanie has been interning for Maggie since March of 2023. Stephanie has the experience and degree for the position. Thus far, he is enjoying the parish. Financial Report July 1, 2022 through May 31, 2023
Stewardship Report The parish census has been submitted for review to the Parish Pastoral Council. Also, in the works are the QR codes for Give Central. Planning to do sign-up events at all churches, especially at Tastes of Summer. Buildings and Grounds Report At Saint Ita:
Cultural Center Update St. Gregory’s Hall is working on its programs and fundraising. School Report There are 131 students in summer school; all staff are being paid by outside sources. Old Business None New Business Next meeting July 27. Upcoming meetings for the new fiscal year: September 28, October 19, November 30, January 25, March 28, May 30, June 27 and July 25. The meeting ended at 7:55 pm with Father Alejandro leading the council in prayer. Mary, Mother of God Parish Finance Council Meeting Minutes for 5/11/2023 St. Ita Rectory Basement – 7pm Attendance
Council members received earlier via email the agenda, the minutes of the April meeting and the financial statements and reports. The meeting began at 7:01pm with Father Alejandro leading us in prayer. Meeting Minutes Don Haider made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Magali Duvivier. The minutes were unanimously approved. Introductions The finance council members introduced themselves. Father Alejandro introduced himself as well. He was born in Havana, Cuba. Was a pastor at a parish in Australia that was not as large as us but had two schools totaling about 180 students. He was sad to leave but happy to be here with us. He has been a priest for 20 years. Some hobbies and interests include Star Wars, movies, and books. Financial Report John McCarthy gave a quick summary of the financials of Mary, Mother of God parish. The Parish has about $4 million in cash which does not include our property. When the three churches merged along with them came different ministries. St. Thomas brought in the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, and more recently Canterbury House. From the merger at St. Gregory came the cultural center, St. Gregory’s Hall. We are one of the few parishes in the Archdiocese that can afford to do this. That said, our current budget for fiscal year 2024 has a deficit of about $200,000. The budget includes a planned deficit for St. Gregory’s Hall. The hope in time is to reduce that deficit to breakeven or a level sustainable by the Parish. The Hall’s fundraising efforts include grants and fundraising activities budgeted close to $100,000. A good portion of the budget is maintenance. The Parish has a lot of facilities to manage, and they cost money to upkeep. $148.500 has been approved for capital projects for FY 2023-2024. The Parish should investigate grants such as the Richard Driehaus Trust, that offer grants to maintain and update religious facilities. School Report Ms. Boyd was not able to attend the meeting. John McCarthy gave the school report in her absence. St. Thomas of Canterbury School has a surplus of $1 million and is one of the biggest recipients for Big Shoulders and Tax Credit funds. Stewardship Report The Parish needs to focus on realistic ways to close the budget deficit. Some avenues being considered include:
Old Business There was none. New Business John Kryl brought up to the council that some of the volunteers are interested in how the money being collected for Outreach is being used. He also mentioned that the Soup Kitchen has no credit card and that it is sometimes problematic for volunteers to pay with their own funds and wait for reimbursements. Father Alejandro stated that he is here to support us and will not be in the way. He is comfortable helping with fundraising activities and wants to get the friars more involved. The meeting ended at 7:51 pm with Father Bob leading the council in prayer. Mary, Mother of God Parish Finance Council Meeting Minutes for 04/20/2023 St. Ita Jubilee Hall – 7pm Attendance
Council members received the minutes of the March meeting and the financial statements and reports earlier via email the agenda. The meeting began at 7:00pm with Father Bob leading us in prayer. Financial Report July 1, 2022, through March 31, 2023
FY 24 Budget The projected budget operating loss is approximately 400,000 (without the benefit or Net Fundraising Income and Interest & Investment Income included in the draft). Considerable discussion took place involving all members of the Council regarding how best to present the FY24 budget, including how to share it with parishioners. Much discussion surrounded the progress made by the Fundraising Strategy committee and the need to reallocate funds held at the Arch Bank into higher yielding products. Stuart and Yasmin will continue finetuning the budget and include Other Income and Expense items that are regularly seen from year-to-year, so the Finance Council has a broader financial picture. Buildings and Grounds Report At Saint Ita:
11 projects were presented for FY24. The Finance Council approved an amount totaling $148,500 to fund those projects. Cultural Center Update

Council members received the minutes of the December meeting and the financial statements and reports earlier via email the agenda. The meeting began at 7:05pm with Father Bob leading us in prayer. Meeting Minutes Andrew Welling made a motion to approve the minutes which was seconded by Carol Hanson. The minutes were unanimously approved. Updates from Father Bob The directors are continuing to meet regularly to ensure a smooth transition to new pastor. A solution for the 4:30pm Mass at St. Gregory has been reached. The Ordinariate should hear from the Cardinal this month to see if they can use St. Gregory Church. If it is a go, we would consider adding a second Mass on Sunday at 12:30pm. St. Gregory’s Hall is thinking of developing a catholic culture experience supplement for the Catholic schools. This will enable SGH to be of service to a larger community. SGH is exploring starting a program this summer (5 days to start) to take place during the day. The focus will be more cultural, less sacramental, and it will help build relationships with schools. We will also be taking in an intern to help with SGH & parish communications. Fr. Alejandro first official day will be May 8th. Financial Report July 1, 2022, through February 28, 2023
Buildings and Grounds Report There have been heating-related issues at all our campuses.

Stewardship Report The fundraising committee met. Our fundraising events are not significant fundraisers. They are pursuing other ideas such as holding one large fundraiser to celebrate the top 10 givers with a catered dinner in the rectory. Another idea is to do an annual giving appeal. Old Business None. New Business None. The meeting ended at 8:05 pm with Father Bob leading the council in prayer. Mary, Mother of God Parish Finance Council Meeting Minutes for 01/26/2023 St. Ita Jubilee Hall – 7pm Attendance
Before meeting, Council members received agenda, minutes of the December meeting and financial statements and reports via email. The meeting began at 7:01pm with Father Bob leading us in prayer. Meeting Minutes John Kryl motioned to approve the minutes and was seconded by Magali Duvivier. The minutes were unanimously approved. Updates from Father Bob Conventual Franciscans own a basilica in Milwaukee. The new provincial assigned Fr. Bob there as rector. Fr. Alejandro Lopez will become the new pastor at Mary, Mother of God. He is currently the pastor of their most diverse parish in Australia. Fr. Bob will remain on the St. Gregory’s Hall board and will be here during Fr. Alejandro’s transition. The Director’s management committee is developing a pastor transition plan to ensure a smooth changeover. The team plans to meet every two weeks. Pastor terms last anywhere between 7 to 8 years, and Fr. Bob has been here for 7 years. Leaving is one of the hardest things a pastor confronts. A new pastor brings the opportunity for new leadership and vision, and now might be the best time for a change. Fr. Bob Sprott, OFM is part of SGH staff. The same number of friars and the staff will remain in place during this transition. Fr. Alejandro will be well cared for since we have a great staff, finance council and parish pastoral council.
